It's important to know that if you're interested in coming to Australia and New Zealand to work as part of the PALM or RSE schemes, you do not need to pay or give gifts to anyone.

If you're offered a job in the PALM scheme, your employer will pay for your flights and some other costs upfront so you can travel.

You have to gradually repay your employer for these costs once you start getting paid for your work.

Your arrival to Australia and New Zealand

Your new employer must pay for the initial costs of your application for a visa but these costs can be deducted from your wages when you start working.

They must also:

  • Organise and pay upfront for your travel costs, including international flights and domestic transport costs. This includes paying you a $300 contribution to your travel costs. The remaining amount can be deducted from you when you start working.

  • Arrange your transfer from the airport to where you’ll be staying or working, and have someone meet you when you arrive.

  • Help you set up a bank account, tax and superannuation arrangements, and organise a mobile phone for you to use.
